East Lampung, January 13, 2026 — The Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI) once again carried out a distribution of crab traps (bubu) to fishermen in Magersari Village, East Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. This activity is part of APRI’s Fishing Gear Swap program, aimed at supporting sustainable blue swimming crab fisheries.
Support from Lampung DKP for Sustainable Crab Fisheries
The event was attended by the Head of Capture Fisheries Division of the Lampung Marine and Fisheries Agency (DKP Lampung), along with APRI members who actively participated in the fishing gear swap process. DKP Lampung continues to support initiatives related to sustainable and globally competitive crab fisheries, ensuring that fishermen can continue fishing responsibly.
Distribution of Eco-Friendly Fishing Gear and Marine Mammal Awareness
Dr. Wita Setioko, Board of Director of APRI, was present alongside M. Bagus Satria, General Manager of APRI, to lead the distribution of crab traps and conduct an awareness session on marine mammals. This socialization aimed to increase fishermen’s understanding of marine ecosystem protection and responsible fishing practices.
The use of crab traps (bubu) is considered more environmentally friendly, helping reduce bycatch while maintaining effective crab harvesting for local fishermen.
APRI’s Commitment to Fishermen and Marine Sustainability
Through this initiative, APRI reaffirms its commitment to supporting fishermen while promoting sustainable fisheries management. The collaboration between APRI and DKP Lampung represents a concrete step toward ensuring the long-term sustainability of Indonesia’s blue swimming crab resources and strengthening their position in the global market.
