Lampung, Indonesia — November 2025.
PT. Lampung Bay Seafood (LBS), one of the active members of the Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI), has taken a significant step toward promoting sustainable crab fisheries by providing crab pots (bubu) to its supply chain network.

Starting on October 13, 2025, the distribution of crab pots began as part of a gradual transformation program aimed at shifting fishing practices from traditional gill nets to more eco-friendly with crab trap/pots. This initiative reflects LBS’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible sourcing within the blue swimming crab industry.

The use of crab pots is recognized for its selective catching mechanism, which helps reduce bycatch and minimizes environmental impact on marine ecosystems. By encouraging fishers in its supply chain to adopt this fishing gear, LBS contributes directly to improving stock management, ensuring the long-term sustainability of crab resources, and aligning with global sustainability standards such as those promoted by the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).
