PT. JCI Distributes Crab Pots to Blue Swimming Crab Fishers in Demak to Support Sustainable and Traceable Fisheries

Demak, 15 October 2025 — PT. JCI, one of the active members of the Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI), continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable and traceable fisheries. As part of its supply chain empowerment program, PT. JCI distributed environmentally friendly fishing gear, specifically collapsible crab pots, to blue swimming crab fishers in the coastal area of Demak, Central Java.

The distribution activity was carried out by representatives from PT. JCI’s Fish Processing Unit together with local fishers. The event was also witnessed by APRI’s Field Support representatives who ensured that the initiative aligns with APRI’s sustainability standards and supply chain improvement efforts.

This support represents a small but meaningful transformation step toward responsible blue swimming crab fisheries. The use of crab pots has become an essential component in promoting environmentally responsible and traceable fishing practices aligned with national sustainability principles and international market requirements.

PT. JCI is not the only processor undertaking this initiative. Several other fish processing units under APRI have also conducted similar crab pot distribution activities within their respective supply chains. This collective action reflects the industry’s strong commitment to meeting sustainability standards while preserving Indonesia’s blue swimming crab resources.

APRI hopes that this initiative will encourage more fisheries stakeholders to engage in the broader movement towards sustainable, productive, and responsible fisheries management.
