PT Pan Putra Samudra (PPS) Participates Fishing Gear Swap Program in Cirebon

PT Pan Putra Samudra (PPS) actively supports marine mammal protection by participating in the fishing gear swap program, facilitating the transition from gillnets to crab pots (bubu) for fishermen in Cirebon, West Java. This initiative aligns with the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) policy, which promotes fishing practices that reduce the risk of marine mammal interactions.

The distribution of crab pots aims to encourage the adoption of selective and marine mammal-safe fishing gear, helping minimize bycatch while supporting the sustainability of blue swimming crab fisheries. This program also strengthens fishermen’s capacity to comply with international fisheries sustainability and export requirements.

By engaging in the fishing gear transition program, PT PPS reinforces its commitment to building a responsible, environmentally compliant, and sustainable fisheries supply chain, while contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems and the long-term livelihoods of coastal communities.
