by adminapri September 29, 2025 0 commentsWest Lombok, September 17, 2025 – As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable fisheries and international compliance, the Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI) held a coordination meeting with the West Lombok Fisheries Office (DKP Lombok Barat) to discuss the implementation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).
Representing APRI in the meeting was Ir. Bambang Arif Nugraha, MBA, who serves as a senior advisor to the association. The discussion focused on the importance of transitioning to environmentally friendly fishing gear, particularly crab traps (bubu), in order to reduce risks to marine mammals and protect ocean ecosystems.
This coordination is part of a broader action plan to ensure that all actors in the blue swimming crab supply chain meet international sustainability standards, including those set by the United States under the MMPA.
Both APRI and DKP Lombok Barat expressed a shared commitment to promoting responsible fishing practices, enhancing awareness at the fisher level, and supporting regulations that contribute to the long-term health of Indonesia’s marine resources.
