APRI Visits BBPBAP Takalar to Explore Innovative Blue Swimming Crab Hatchery Technology

Takalar, August 29, 2025 – The Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI), represented by Mr. Ir. Bambang Arif Nugraha, MBA, conducted a visit to the Brackishwater Aquaculture Development Center (BPBAP) Takalar.

During the visit, APRI had the opportunity to observe first-hand the innovative hatchery and solitary systems designed for blue swimming crab crablets. These technologies have proven effective in increasing the survival rate (SR) of crablets while significantly reducing cannibalism, thereby supporting the productivity and sustainability of blue swimming crab aquaculture in Indonesia.

The visit was accompanied by Mr. Boyun Handoyo, S.Pi., M.Si., Head of BPBAP Takalar, and Mr. Hendro from APRI’s member company in Makassar, PT. Kencana Bintang Terang (KBT), which is committed to advancing sustainable aquaculture technologies.
