FGD Development of Sustainable Marine and Fisheries in Central Java Province, Semarang, August 9-10, 2019

Indonesia area dominated by waters with covers 2/3 of the area and has long coastline. Based on it, Indonesia has the potential natural resources, especially marine and fisheries resources. One of the potential marine and fisheries resources in Indonesia is blue swimmming crab. Blue swimming crab accounted for high foreign exchange for exported marine and fisheries product. One of the area in Indonesia that has potential resources for blue swimming crab is Central Java Province.
Central Java Province realize their potential in marine and fisheries. It proved by the activity that conducted by Central Java Province that is the Focus Group Discussion with the theme “Sustainable Development of Marine and Fisheries to Increase the Welfare of the People of Central Java”. This activity was held on 9-10 August 2019 at the Grand Candi Hotel Semarang. As the organization which is focusing on management of blue swimming crab, APRI also invited and participated to the activity.
The challenges and solutions for aquaculture fisheries is the main discussion in the first day. In the second day, there were several discussions such as the implementation and policy of marine and coastal management in Central Java, aspects of marine and fisheries policy, aspects of blue green economy, aspects of sustainable management environment, and aspects of strategic policy. In this activity, APRI also opened a booth that displayed various products from APRI members and publications on various activities that APRI had carried out.
