Protecting Our Oceans : 1,000 Mangrove Trees Planted in Pamekasan, Madura

Mangroves are far more than just trees along the shoreline. For blue swimming crab (rajungan) fishermen, these coastal forests are the heart of the marine ecosystem—a vital nursery and feeding ground that maintains ocean balance and sustains the food chain. Without healthy mangroves, fish stocks decline, directly threatening the livelihoods of local fishing communities.

Recognizing this critical connection, a collective force came together on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, to turn environmental awareness into direct action.

A Collective Step for Marine Sustainability
In a major collaborative effort, the Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI) joined forces with Blue Coastal Maritime, the Madura Mangrove Care Group (KPMM), and local fishing collectives (KUB) across three coastal villages.

The initiative was also strongly supported by the local government, featuring key figures including Mr. Saiful Bari, S.Pi., M.Agr. (Head of Fisheries Service and Supervision Division at the Pamekasan Regency Fisheries Service), alongside extension officers and department staff.

Together, the team planted 1,000 mangrove saplings along the coast of Baddurih Village, Pademawu District, Pamekasan Regency, Madura.
