PT. KBT Distributes Crab Pots to Cirebon Fishers to Support Sustainable Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries

Cirebon, 5 November 2025 — PT. KBT, one of the active members of the Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI), has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting sustainable blue swimming crab fisheries in Indonesia. Through its supply chain strengthening initiative, PT. KBT distributed environmentally friendly collapsible crab pots to blue swimming crab fishers in the Cirebon area.

This initiative aims to ensure that Indonesian blue swimming crab products can continue to be exported sustainably, traceably, and in compliance with marine mammal-safe standards—particularly in relation to the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) requirements set by the United States.

The handover ceremony was held with the presence of representatives from the Cirebon Regency Office of Food Security and Fisheries, and included the formal signing of the fishing gear assistance agreement. This symbolic distribution reflects PT. KBT’s concrete action and concern for maintaining a healthy, mutually beneficial supply chain ahead of the implementation of stricter international policies.

Through this program, PT. KBT hopes that local fishers will be better equipped to adapt to sustainability-driven regulations and continue practicing environmentally responsible fishing. APRI and its members remain committed to encouraging the transition toward more responsible and traceable fishing practices throughout Indonesia’s blue swimming crab sector.
