The Meeting of Sustainable Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Management Committee of Lampung Province, Bandar Lampung, April 22-23, 2019

Collaborative management need to be done by involving every blue swimming crab fisheries stakeholders to realize the sustainability. Several areas in Indonesia traying to conduct the collaborative management, and one of them is Lampung Province. Lampung Province had a program namely Sustainable Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Management Initiative/Inisiatif Pengelolaan Perikanan Rajungan Berkelanjutan (IPPRB). This initiative has objectives to applied the blue swimming crab management at the appropriate scale and to improve the ecosystem’s health and blue swimming crab stock, besides to social and economic welfare of the stakeholders along the blue swimming crab supply chain.

IPPRB management team had vompiled the blue swimming crab fisheries management action plan through the collaborative process. To implement the action plan, APRI with the local fishermens, value chain performer, government, and the fishermens organization collaborate under the leadership of the Lampung Governor formed the Sustainable Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Management Committee/Komite Pengelolaan Perikanan Rajungan Berkelanjutan (KPPRB) between sectors at the province level that passed through the Governor Regulation No. G/165/V.19/HAKA/2018.

On the September 25-27, 2018, the first meeting was held. And on the April 22-23, 2019, the second meeting was held in Bandar Lampung. There were two main agendas, that was the meeting of work group/kelompok kerja (POKJA) and the meeting of executive committee. In the work group meeting, APRI representated by Bambang A. Nugraha as General Secretary delivered a material about the Blue Swimming Crab Production vs Market. In the executive committee meeting, APRI presenting the Inclusive Management Program and Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Imrpovement Program in Indonesia. The meeting itself attended by various stakeholders such as from the fishermens, mini plants, NGOs, universities, and the government.

With the meeting, hoped that in the future the management of blue swimming crab in Lampung Province will be better and more collaborative to maintain and improve the blue swimming crab fisheries, not only for the sustainability, but also to make every performer on blue swimming crab supply chain feel well-being.
