Developing a sustainable fishing community, APRI and MSC Indonesia hold online FGDs, Pamekasan, July 10, 2020

Asosiasi Pengelolaan Rajungan Indonesia (APRI) together with Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) works together to help the small fishing community with a program called “Community Fisheries Stewardship”.

The program was initiated to foster groups of fishermen by participating in exploring local wisdom or including informal activities of fishermen who contribute to the sustainability of crab fisheries.

As one of the first steps, APRI held an online FGD which was held on Friday, July 10, 2020, which was attended by APRI, MSC, representatives of the Pamekasan DKP, the head of Pagagan Village, the head of the village cooperative, the Pagagan village small fishing group, CO and the Pamekasan enumerator.

The activity began with remarks from the Head of Pagagan Village, Bapak Mamang, remarks from DKP Pamekasan representatives, Hairul and MSC Indonesia’s remarks, Hirmen Syofyanto. The agenda continued with the presentation of material from the Executive Director of APRI, Dr. Hawis Madduppa regarding the Election of Fishermen Communities and Local Wisdom and presentation of material from the Secretary General of APRI, Bambang Arif Nugraha on the Rajungan Fisheries Market Review. After that, the question and answer session continued with the small fisherman During the meeting also campaigned “GTK5!
