The Blue Swimming Crab is a fishery commodity that has high economic value. This commodity has high demand both at home and abroad. The high selling value of small crab makes the effort to catch small crabs in nature has increased (Ernawati et al. 2013).

Small scale fisheries in Pamekasan Regency are still small scale fisheries. The activity of catching small crabs in Pamekasan Regency generally uses traps. Bubu fishing gear is a passive fishing gear. The operation of this fishing gear is installed on the bottom of the water in sequence. The bait contained in the traps will attract the crabs to enter the traps but cannot come out again. So there is a very high potential for catching small crabs with sizes below the stipulations and bycatching fish.

Based on Permen KP number 1 of 2015 and Permen KP number 12 year 2020, crab fishing gear must be static or passive and crabs that can be caught have a carapace width of more than 10 cm. Therefore, it is necessary to have a selective and environmentally friendly fishing gear so that the crabs that are caught have the appropriate size and can reduce the bycatch catch rate.

The meeting activity for the Implementation of Environmentally Friendly Fishing Technology aims to increase fishermen’s awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly fishing gear and distribute assistance in the form of folding fishing gear to fishermen.

This activity was held on December 8, 2020 with collaboration Marine Fisheries Bureau of Pamekasan Distric and APRI, in the implementation of environmentally friendly fishing technology in collaboration with APRI, represented by Lailatul Qomariyah in disseminating techniques for using folded traps and fish handling.

The activity, which was attended by 40 fishermen, was greeted enthusiastically with various questions and the Pamekasan fisheries office prepared a total of 1,400 traps to be distributed to fishermen and 40 Coolboxes.
