Quarterly Meeting 1 APRIL 2020

Asosiasi Pengelolaan Rajungan Indonesia (APRI) holds the first quarterly APRI meeting in 2020 (Quarterly meeting 1 2020) on Saturday, April 18, 2020. The meeting is held routinely every three months for coordination, information transfer and evaluation for and from APRI members, the APRI Board, and APRI partners. Unlike the previous meetings, this time the meeting was held online through the zoom application due to the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting was attended by APRI members who are fisheries processing actors, and Dr. Abdul Ghofar as a representative of the NFI Crab Council Indonesia. The meeting this time will focus on discussions about the “Rajungan Solidarity 1781945” plan to assist in the initial supply chain of the small crab fisheries (fishermen and pickers) affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The meeting opened with remarks from Mr. Kuncoro Catur Nugroho as the Chairperson of APRI who spoke about the condition of the small crab fishery amid the COVID-19 pandemic that occurred, followed by remarks from Dr. Abdul Ghofar who provided support and delivered a message written by Ed Rhodes NFI-CC. The agenda continued with the presentation of activities carried out by APRI during the period January – April 2020 by Mrs. Aik Wulandari as APRI Brand Ambassador, and Dr. Hawis Madduppa delivered a report on the development of the crab fishery improvement program (FIP), and also the submission of the crab solidarity infographic 1781945.

The meeting ended with a discussion about the follow-up action to the Rajungan Solidarity Act 1781945 to be carried out by APRI. Several APRI members have taken and will take action in solidarity with the factories, fishermen and workers involved in each company. The assistance provided was in the form of basic necessities for affected families. APRI realizes that the existence of a COVID-19 pandemic has an influence on the survival of the crab business, especially on the initial supply chain. Through this action APRI hopes to at least be able to help ease the burden on the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this meeting, APRI hopes that the friendship and coordination can be maintained and increasingly solid for the sake of the sustainability of the crab fishery sustainability in Indonesia, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak which is quite having an impact.
