Independent Auditors Training on Control Document Implementation

Auditors training on control document implementation for Blue Swimming Crab fishery in Indonesia was conducted in Surabaya on 23-26 November 2016. This event organized by Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association (APRI), Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) and NFI Crab Council. This training is part for support and increase BSC Control Document in Indonesia. Mr. Kuncoro Catur Nugroho as APRI Chairman opened the training and he is pointing out the commitment of APRI to implement the control document for all APRI members supply chain. APRI Secretary, Mr. Bambang Arif Nugraha mentioned that APRI is ready to be audited by CDAS independent auditor. Dr. Hawis Madduppa, APRI executive director, explained the APRI members and mini plants mapping and distribution across Indonesia. A total of 10 potential independent auditors was trained during this time by Juan Manuel Caudillo from SFP.

Purposes from this event (1) to provide APRI and it’s affiliated processors the means to verify the implementation of the control document and its related traceability and documentation processes in the Indonesia blue swimming crab supply chain to the USA Market. (2) To provide training to a group of auditors on the traceability and documentation processes related to the control document implementation for the Indonesia blue swimming crab supply chain to the USA Market. (3) To evaluate the audit protocol and make the needed adjustments for its final design.

The Expected Outputs is (1) 10 auditors trained in the Control Document and its related traceability and documentation processes, (2) A final and standardized audit protocol for the traceability and documentation processes related to the control document. The audit is expected to be conducted in December 2016. This initiative of traceability and documentation process is expected to fully auditable from raw material to the final product and vice versa.
